22 Reviews of “A Slice of Quietude” so far and counting!

Been having quite some success with reviews so I decided to make a Review page that will update with reviews instead of having reporting on which sites agreed to review my book. Because it’ll make life a little easier by having it all in one place, I also added more info than just links. I added where that person got the book and the ratings. The tally so far. I’ve gotten 11 5-star ratings, 7 4-star and 4 3-star ratings. None below that yet. Oh, I just remembered there’s an Amazon uk review I didn’t include. Need to rectify that.

New Review out for “A Slice of Quietude” and it’s Great!

Incredible Realms is a new book blogger that specializes in Fantasy/Sci-Fi. David Aron, the proprietor was kind enough to review my book for me. Here’s his review of “A Slice of Quietude.” Among the gems within his review: If you are unwilling to open your mind to a lesbian protagonist, don’t bother reading this story. Really. It’s just too awesome for you. Slice of Quietude is written and paced well, with some spots that even blew my cynical hair back. Another 5-star review… So grateful for these.

This. This Review is a BIG Reason Why I Write

To have people who don’t like reading much, enjoy it. I just received this review from Jenn S. on GoodReads and it’s put such a HUGE smile on my face. My son (22) picked this book up from my to-be-read pile on his way through my library, er, I mean, the living room. When he returned it he said, “You really should review this one before all those others. I loved it. It’s really great.” He then launched into a near-speech about the main character and her powers, the various other primary characters, the adventures they went on and how hilarious parts…

Results of PR Push – 7/21/15 Edition

Sometimes, being a writer isn’t about being a writer and PR is one of those times, especially for an Indie writer. PR means having a decent pitch, enough to hook a look from a reviewer, and reaching out to the public to say, “Here’s my book. Take a look. Even better, take a read.” It’s hard work and uses way different muscles than creating or even editing. So far, the PR pushes have generated reviews and looks, but few sales. Hopefully the noise will break through to some. Onto the results! Actual reviews: Alex McGilvery of Celtic Frog Reviews gave…

Results of PR Push (20% return!) – 6/19/15 edition

I haven’t written many posts lately. There just isn’t enough time. Between my day job, my wife, my three dogs, PR requests, sending out books, taking care of the back yard, and writing, very little time is left and of course, I got myself hooked on another game, Plague Inc. Still, I should put the results of my efforts up and payback the folks who so kindly agreed to review “A Slice of Quietude”. Reading Shy with Aly immediately agreed to review the book when I contacted her; The Rainbow Hub also agreed immediately; Reviews from a Book-Obsessed Human also…

An Appeal to the Ether aka Internet

Today, for my PR push, I’m going to do a mass mailing as well as post the following on Facebook on my personal page and my author page. It’s an appeal for folks to buy A Slice of Quietude, or leave a review, or pass on the request to someone who might like the book. Because I know some pals are jokers, they might change the wording. I’m posting the words of my appeal here so that folks can compare what they got, to what I originally wrote. Hi, You’re getting this email because you breathed the same air as me…

New Review out for “A Slice of Quietude”, 6/8/15 edition

Nick Rossi from the blog, “Reading Other People” kindly offered to do a review when I requested it from him. Less than a month later, the review, “Some Thoughts on ‘A Slice of Quietude’ by Sharon Cho” is out. Some highlights: “’A Slice of Quietude’ is a refreshing and modern take on the standard supernatural love story.” “With a steady momentum and clear talent at creating witty dialogue and descriptive situations, Sharon Cho’s A Slice of Quietude is a must read for those who especially adore a well-written, well-paced, and creative fantasy novel.”

88 Requests for Reviews Sent Out and Counting

Since the book came out on May 11, 2015, I’ve sent out over 90 requests for reviews. About 20 of them responded: 11 said yes, 4 said maybe and 6 said no. Percentage wise, since the majority are positive, I’m seeing this as a good result. I’m also considering paying for book promotions but I’m on the fence about that right now. I’m already paying so much out of pocket that I think I want to make back some $ before blowing more. Since I last reported on PR, Little Pink Crayons and The Book Tales have agreed to review my…

More PR Good News for “A Slice of Quietude”

Over the weekend, some PR seeds bloomed. First off, the Myths Mobile (Thanks Brett Dewey!) is doing its job since I put on the magnetic holders. On Sunday, folks took two postcards from the car when I parked at Point Isabel. Secondly, another two reviewers requested my book for review! Author Holly Newhouse (who not only is an author herself, but she reviews books professionally AND as a courtesy) requested a copy; So did Alex of Lesbian Fiction Reviews. Lastly, Christine Close of Inked Rainbow Reviews did a review on GoodReads. Again, I’m finding these reviews prior to them being…
