/r/fantasy Writer of the Day on 9/9/15, this Wednesday

In case you didn’t recognize the above, it’s reddit‘s sub-reddit called /r/fantasy. See, /r/’s short for reddit and a sub-reddit is a group of like-minded individuals who want to have discussions about that category. The Fantasy sub-reddit is kind enough to feature indie writers under the heading of “Writer-of-the-Day” and on 9/9/15, I’m signed up. I hope some of you will join me that day to discuss “A Slice of Quietude” among other things.

Being a Self-Promoting Fool

Self-promoting is such anathema to me that it’s a real chore. I often emerge from self-promotion with self-loathing and grumpiness but it’s what I need to do in order to get heard above the noise. We’re taught (especially Chinese women) not to brag, not to point to ourself for anything. Then at the same time, there’s all these signs all over the internet saying no self-promotion (if you’re a writer). Anyway, I’m looking forward to making past 9/9/15. I swore that after I did my writer-of-the-day for /r/fantasy, I’ll stop the self-promotion until my next book is out. Maybe my…

Price cut on e-book version of “A Slice of Quietude” to $2.99.

So after much deliberation, I’ve decided to cut the price on the e-book of A Slice of Quietude (Woven Myths Book 1) from $4.88 to $2.99 which is the lowest Amazon will let me without giving it away. There are two reasons for this decision: 1) I’m a debut author so the price should reflect this, and 2) I’ve been paying attention to other fantasy writers around and what are their books’ prices. I may at some point bring the price up, but for now, it will be at $2.99. Tell your friends. Oh, and pick up a copy yourself.

Woven Myths/Sharon Cho now has a Pinterest

Since RaffleCopter has an upgrade and that upgrade includes Pinterest abilities, I figured Woven Myths/Sharon Cho should have a presence, right? Here it is: Sharon Cho’s Pinterest. So far I have two boards: Woven Myths & D’Awww. I have a feeling the D’Awww is going to be my way of showing Westina cute photos of animals. I might create a board for abandoned buildings and writing sheds. I can tell already Pinterest is going to be a huge time-suck so I’m going to have to not look at the site until 1000 words are written. I also started an imgur…

Results of PR Push – 7/21/15 Edition

Sometimes, being a writer isn’t about being a writer and PR is one of those times, especially for an Indie writer. PR means having a decent pitch, enough to hook a look from a reviewer, and reaching out to the public to say, “Here’s my book. Take a look. Even better, take a read.” It’s hard work and uses way different muscles than creating or even editing. So far, the PR pushes have generated reviews and looks, but few sales. Hopefully the noise will break through to some. Onto the results! Actual reviews: Alex McGilvery of Celtic Frog Reviews gave…

Woven Myths #2 – Prologue + 2 Chapters done

After almost two months of little but PR, I’m now concentrating on writing. Yes, I’ll do more PR every once in a while but the main focus will be on writing. This is a change from my original idea of tapering off the PR but the muse must be obeyed. Writing makes me feel like something’s getting done. PR work often feels like throwing mud at a window to get it cleaned. The first attempt at a Prologue got thrown out. It sucked as badly as a vacuum. The 2nd version is way better but I couldn’t write it until…
