Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978) Review

Watched Invasion of the Body Snatchers with Westina the other day. When I realized she hadn’t seen it before I insisted we watch it. I haven’t rewatched it since the 80’s when I saw it on Z channel. To my surprise, I remember a lot of it. Cast: God, they were so young back then. Brooke Adams is so familiar to me, but I just looked through her IMDB credits and this is the only role I know her in. I wonder if she made such a huge impression on me back then that I memorized her looks and name.…

Review of Cloudburst, a Movie about Older Lesbians

Saturday after trying to put our younger pups who aren’t socialized at all, with a 12 week old puppy, I was exhausted and didn’t feel much like writing. So I scoured Netflix for a movie that I hadn’t watched before. I started up a Stephen Chow movie then realized anew that I have a hard time with his movies so I began the search again. It also starred Audrey Hepburn and a young Eli Wallach (which I didn’t think possible). There were two things about the opening titles that I liked: the funky font and the fact that the movie’s composer was named Johnny Williams. Was this one of John William’s first scores? I’m actually quite shocked to find that most reviews of this movie are quite high. I don’t know if I expected too much from a Peter O’Toole…

Catching up on Old Movies/LadyHawke

There are some movies that take me forever to watch. For some reason, Rutger Hauer is in some of them. I finally watched Blade Runner about five years ago? Maybe eight? Ladyhawke is another. Last night, Westina and I were searching for something to watch. I knew she’d like the story and since I never watched it in its entirety, we put it on. The story on its own, was great. The characters are distinct, the plot nicely and slowly unveiled. As a character, Mouse was fantastic, but Matthew Broderick an odd choice for it. His build isn’t exactly mouse-like and…
