Only a Cry Away

Over the holidays, I saw my cousin-in-law who is undergoing chemo for ovarian cancer. When she walked in, she was hunched and moving slowly. “The Chemo-walk,” I later told her. “You’ve got it.” I urged her about some things I knew about, like getting a temporary handicap placard for your car, and getting a wheelchair just to save energy. “Your energy will be less and less,” I told her. Fuck Cancer

A couple of weeks ago, I received a text from my sister. My cousin’s wife was diagnosed with a grapefruit-sized tumor on her ovary and most likely it’s cancer. Yesterday she had a hysterectomy and it’s confirmed. I sent her the link to the blog that I maintained during W’s cancer journey and she in turn sent it to my cousin, her husband’s sister.
